Villa Nah – Rainmaker

Villa Nah, a duo of Juho Paalosmaa and Tomi Hyyppä, makes pure electronic pop with plenty of emphasis on catchy melodies and meticulously crafted soundscapes reminiscent of the 1980’s.

While the release of the eagerly awaited debut album by Villa Nah on Keys of Life Brilliant sub-label of the mighty Sähkö Recordings, dedicated to old-school style house, disco and acid productions, may still be a couple of months away, the follow up for their 3-track VN ep let’s you dwell in and see the other side of the band.

The new single Rainmaker presents a more straightforward approach to crafting 3-minute pop-perfection. Driving hihats, deep synths, dramatic vocals and a middle-eight to die for won’t even bother into re-inventing the wheel. If rainmaker makes my eyes tinkle a little bit, then the 4th track Bennys burning brings a big smile to my face. I absolutely love that melancholic synth influenced track, and the reason to buy this release.
